I have to say that the Universal City fire was a little too close for comfort, as it happened about 500 yards from my house. So in the future, when I hear sirens for two straight hours at the crack of dawn? I really need to get better about getting out of bed. I awoke to find my deck and car covered in ash and cinders. My eyes were burning well into the afternoon. But I just happened to take a photo the day before when it was sunny and beautiful, because I liked the palm tree between the wire and the roof. Then I took an identical shot the next day post-fire--I did nothing with lighting or focus, because I'm not that good of a photographer (yet).

Perhaps I should have but I didn't realize you were that close. Very scary! I strongly agree with your plan to rouse yourself more quickly in the future. Please do. There are way too many fires way too near you.
