I think my favorite place in London was Westminster Abbey. That and the two Tate Galleries. When they asked for twelve pounds admission, that sly devil Adam said, "I just want to say a quick prayer, mate." So we were directed to the side of the building and ushered into a little prayer room. I said the Serenity Prayer. Then we waited for the security guard to back outside and we tuck-and-rolled past him into the church. Kidding. We just walked. It was so gorgeous and sublime, and it's like every person in history is memorialized here. I loved seeing all the composers, especially Benjamin Britten. And there was a corner that featured every author and poet of note. As Adam said, this would be the best place to cure writer's block. If I could write there every day, I'm sure I would be Shakespeare, Milton, T.S. Eliot, the Bronte sisters and Jane Austen all rolled into one. Maybe not, but I do like to delude myself.
