Saturday I headed over to the Westside, so I thought it would be a good time to try out this coffee place, Paper or Plastik. I read about it in the Weekly when it first opened and was intrigued.
It was ok, one of those coffee shops of the cold, unfriendly hipster variety. But one nice thing was that it shares space with a ballet studio. Another was the gift shop upstairs.
They serve Intelligentsia coffee, so that should have been the tip off.
I just went to their web site to add the link and noticed they have yoga classes and live classical music on Wednesday night. This would actually lure me back if it wasn't on the one night a week when I'm playing live classical music myself.
I visited with some pups.
Then I went to Eagle Rock. Don't ask me why I drove all the way from the Westside to ER in the middle of the day, but by the time I got there, it was 3:30 and I hadn't eaten.
I thought it would be a good occasion to try this place I've had my eye on, Four Café, and holy God, was it good. I'm totally going back!
This is their Curried Cauliflower Soup with a Meyer Lemon Ginger soda.
And this is a Salad Nicoise with smoked albacore. Probably the best Salad Nicoise I've had outside of Paris. That sounded snooty, but oh well. The best Salad Nicoise I've had was in Paris.
Spring was in bloom at my local Rite Aid.
And I found that Peeps come in many shades these days.
Friday was payday, so I bought myself a little treat. I went to Naimie's Beauty Center on Riverside, which is two floors of beautifying delights. Actually, the first floor is a wig salon, which is kind of awesome.
This is the greatest thing for your hair. I swear by it. I took a long hot shower and let the olive-y goodness soak in, then settled in for the night and watched this.

That salad looks amazing! So what did you think of the movie?
In truth, I'm only half way through it...but it's really interesting.
Did you see it--what did you think?
Thanks!
The multicolored peeps make me sad for some reason. Peeps should just stay yellow.
You're old school, Miss Pip. : )
