hope street.

One of my favorite places in Providence is Hope Street. Just one of those quaint little streets with cute shops and restaurants--but I like it because it's mellow and not trying too hard to be cute and quaint.




 I met my friend Kristie--who I've know since I was 12--at a restaurant called Blaze, and I browsed this great, little store called Frog & Toad for non-kitschy Rhode Island souvenirs. I even found a T-shirt that said "Los Angeles I'm Yours" for $19.99.


This is a great little coffee shop that both my sister and Kristie like. K said once she went to get her morning coffee, and the signs in the window all said "Yummy's." She thought maybe the place had changed ownership and was surprised to see that a movie was being filmed there. The movie turned out to be Dan in Real Life. Kind of coincidence as this is one of the few romantic comedies I've actually seen in the theater. And hated. Hated so much I wrote a short story about it. It was called "Eggs."
