Hello! Back and playing catch up again. Same old excuses--busy at work, writing a blog for my company, etc., etc. Although I will say that when you work in the retail industry, this time of year is absolute madness.
Anyway, I know it's come and gone, but I did want to put up some photos from the Day of the Dead festivities, because they were just magical, and I think you'll enjoy them.
I had a friend say to me (with a slight roll of they eyes) that he feels like Day of the Dead has gotten really trendy over the last decade. He doesn't remember people being so into celebrating it, especially non-Latino people. I say "so what?"
I think it's because the whole Halloween season has gotten so popular...or "trendy," if you like. I believe I've said that before.
And I think that any trend that's about celebrating Latino culture is a trend I can get down with. And I've reached that age where I don't get down with many trends.
These photos are from the big celebration at the Hollywood Forever cemetery, which is actually a week and a half before the actual Day of the Dead. Not sure why this is, but the celebrations is truly breathtaking.
Of course, there was a ton of food, but I was very excited to finally sample the mole from La Guelaguetza. It was fantastic.
