Today, we are loving the paintings of Melbourne artist Kate Shaw. These amazing, riot-of-color landscapes are created using collage techniques and pouring the paint directly onto the canvas. While they're a celebration of the natural world, the intensity and artificiality of the colors suggests the manipulation of humanity on the environment. As the artist states on her site:
"This intersection of creation and corruption in Shaw's alchemical
creations teases out our conflicted relationship with nature--a
relationship fraught with awe and fear, closeness and distance."
You can see more of Shaw's unique work at her site. And when you buy one of her prints, she donates 10% of the proceeds to charities like Save the Children, Greenpeace, Pets Haven and more. Via Beautiful Decay.
