dog of the day.

Happy Monday!

Welcome to a new feature at my all-new blog--Rescue Dog of the Day! Every week I'll be featuring a stunning dog up for adoption in the L.A.-area. Full disclosure: I volunteer as a foster for the wonderful Dogs Without Borders, so many of the dogs I feature will be available through their organization. Bu I do want to expand and include pups from the many rescues around the city.

Let's meet our first featured dog--Benedict! Full disclosure: I have fostered Benedict for the the past three weeks, but that just means I have first-hand experience with how wonderful this little boy is.

Benedict was dumped at the shelter by his former owner with no excuse given. He was terribly shy and afraid, but once in a home setting he warmed up quickly. He is happy, playful, and although five years old, has puppy energy to spare.

Benedict plays with my dog Isabel NON-STOP. While he has no leash or command training, he understands "NO," and sits for his treats. For such a tiny guy (8 pounds), he has a big appetite, big poop and a big bark. He really is like a big dog in a little dog's body. Bonus: he sleeps through the night and is house trained.

This chihuahua/dachshund mix has the heart of a lion! He's a great love and passionate about life. He will make a wonderful addition to any home--although he doesn't understand what teeth are and sometimes gives some nips--so he's maybe not the best with small children. But he would be the PERFECT second dog, if you happen to be looking for one.

Benedict is available to adopt today from Dogs Without Borders. And be sure to check out all the wonderful adoptees looking for their fur-ever homes.
