1. Love this Salon article on American novelist Dawn Powell, who sounds like a lesser-known (but more interesting) Dorothy Parker, or as the article's author Gerald Howard suggests--an American Evelyn Waugh. I'm excited to start reading her--and the article itself is a wonderful piece of writing.
In researching an image, I found this delightful piece at Print magazine on illustrator Joshua Landsman and his series "Writers I Have Loved." I'm sure I'll be featuring this in an upcoming blog post.

2. Love Santo Street. I've been a big fan of this site for a long time, and still hope to purchase some of these amazing Mexican film posters (and lobby cards) when I have some more space. Brian Moran's collection of vintage originals (no reproductions) is staggering.
3. I'm going to love settling in one night with this Jean Cocteau interview, The Art of Fiction, from the Paris Review, 1964.
4. And after that, I will read A Shot in the Dark about the great architectural photographer Julius Shulman in Los Angeles magazine.
5. The Dapper Rebels of Los Angeles, 1966. After the '65 Watts riots, Life magazine visited South Central and, instead of finding dangerous gangs roaming the streets, they encountered some fine young gentlemen with enviable sartorial style.

6. I once fell in love with a dress on ModCloth--it was a vintage-y, 50's number covered in a smart eyeglasses print. I hoped day to buy it, but it sold out. I just learned the designer of that dress is one Eva Franco. She has a cool site with more beautiful dresses and just opened her first shop in Echo Park.
Eva Franco now in Echo Park of all places
7. Love these incredible paintings by the young Russian artist Ekaterina Panikanova. They combine three of my favorite interests--books, art and collage.

8. LOVE, love, love the blog Oh, by the way... I feel like I've found a kindred spirit in its author JEF, someone I could get a cup of coffee with and chat for...oh, six hours or so. I especially enjoy this post on crystallized books by San Francisco-based artist, Alexis Arnold.
Books as art--it's a pattern, I know.

9. Love the BuzzFeed article 20 Brilliant Authors Whose Work was Initially Rejected. Don't quit your day jobs, guys.
Just give it up, man.
10. And finally for #10, love the blog Ten Best Films. I think I may have included this before, but it's worth it another mention. Check out the ten best films of 2014 at the top...and then plan to spend a few hours going through the archives.
Still haven't seen it.
I really enjoyed putting this list together--and there's a lot more love to come.
