In my daydreams today, I'm a waif-like, Echo Park-y girl (with chic ombré highlights and a Reformation floral sundress, $225), fully embracing the "Sad Girl" persona in existential crisis mode, roaming the streets of the city on foot, nursing a cold press in the afternoon heat.
I randomly happen upon the Quentin Tarantino-curated New Beverly Cinema and take in the Wong Kar-Wai double feature of...
...Chungking Express and...
...Days of Being Wild.
Slow tears dribble into my popcorn, and I catch the eye of a man-bunned Sad Boy at the other end of my row. Afterwards, we silently agree to cross the street and partake in crappy, ironic margaritas at El Coyote Cafe (NO chips and salsa, only booze), then head back to my studio for some Sad Girl/Sad Boy sex. Come Wednesday morning, he's gone and I'm too depressed and hungover to make my shift at Brite Spot.
In reality, I will be driving to the outer reaches of the Valley, picking up a new foster dog, bathing new foster dog and mostly likely cleaning up when new foster dog marks its territory in my home. Followed by a 99% fat-free burrito from Trader Joe's and collapsing in bed.
But a girl can dream. And if you're not saddled with foster dogs on a Tuesday night (or perhaps children--I hear people tend to them, too), then you should really check this double feature out. It will be AH-mazing.
