Years ago, I used to work at women's clothing company in the sunny paradise of Irvine, California (that's right--behind the Orange Curtain), dreaming up delicious new ways to describe bulletproof polyester pantsuits and wrinkle-resistant separates that travel like a dream. I worked with a talented designer named Kim. We were both vaguely dissatisfied with the job and weren't really sure what else we could do. Well, Kim decided she was going to get married and have kids, and I'll be damned if she didn't do just that. We reconnected through Facebook, and I was thrilled to discover she's become a painter--an amazing one.
