americana.

Well, hello. Here we are again.

It's hard to believe the second half of 2015 starts tomorrow, but it's true. The holiday weekend is upon us, and I'm getting ready to head up to the Bay Area. Hopefully, this will mean spending some time along Route 1, one of the most beautiful drives on the planet, before hanging with family. Yes, it's hectic getting ready, but today I've fallen in love and want to share with you the paintings of Adalberto Ortiz.

Born in Puerto Rico and based in NYC, Ortiz depicts the fringes of the American landscape in muted tones and stark shadows. Desolate industrial scenes mix with rural streets, decaying signs and lonely homes. It's the America of road trips, the places you zip through getting from here to there. I think these works are a wonderful way to usher in the 4th of July weekend.

Just a few more things of note today:

Love this new book I'm reading about a female MI-5 agent in the Cold War era.

Love this tote.

And I love that a new photo exhibit, Hollywood Boulevard: The 70s, happens tomorrow night at LACE.

I plan on attending. Hope to see you there. xoL
